UK-based provider of private medical and life insurance Vitality has announced a strategic partnership with digital-first health provider HealthHero to expand its virtual GP service capacity.

This collaboration is designed to provide innovative digital access for members, reflecting a broader industry trend where rapid access to primary care is a primary driver for purchasing private medical insurance. By integrating HealthHero into its ecosystem, Vitality aims to ensure it can support all future demands through a diversified range of GP services.

The partnership is structured to complement Vitality’s long-standing relationship with European digital health provider Livi (which enables patients to have video consultations with GMC-certified NHS GPs and other healthcare professionals) rather than replace it.

Initially, the HealthHero GP service will be available to new personal and small-to-medium-sized enterprise private health insurance members, as well as existing members who have not utilised virtual GP services within the last twelve months. Members who are regular users of the Livi platform will continue their care journey uninterrupted, as both providers will work in parallel to manage the growing volume of consultations. Over time, the service is expected to evolve into an integrated, triaged pathway available to the entire membership base.

HealthHero provides millions of patients across the United Kingdom, Ireland, France, and Germany with 24/7 access to doctors via video, phone, or messaging. Beyond standard consultations, the company’s suite of tools includes advanced clinical offerings such as disease risk evaluations for cancer and diabetes. This expansion underscores Vitality’s commitment to scaling its digital infrastructure through proven, high-performing partners to maintain a competitive edge in the insurance market.
