Private Equity is transforming European smiles
The European dental market is increasingly attracting interest, and cosmetic dentistry in particular is booming, especially on the orthodontic and aligner front.
Candesic Senior Partner Marc Kitten and Associate Dr Marco Mazevet explored the attractiveness of the European dental market while looking at how private equity is playing a transformative role in LaingBuisson’s latest publication.
A largely fragmented market is presenting ample opportunity for considered consolidation. Changing patient preferences and an increased emphasis on preventative care are driving innovation, including in labs building high-tech solutions to address cost pressures, workforce shortages, and spearheading 3D printed solutions.
It is important to note, however, that there are regulatory pitfalls, especially in France and Germany where pressure to curb the proliferation of dental clinic chains as well as managing the influence of private capital requires careful consideration.
