German medical technology group Ottobock is to acquire the Norwegian patient care division of UK-based Blatchford for approximately €110m.

The transaction encompasses eight clinical locations and roughly 200 employees, establishing the first direct operational footprint in Norway for Ottobock.

The deal reflects a broader consolidation trend within the orthotics and prosthetics sector. Ottobock CFO Arne Kreitz noted that closer integration between surgeons, rehabilitation centres, and clinics is becoming increasingly important for scalable growth.

Ottobock CEO Oliver Jakobi highlighted that incorporating these sites into a network of over 420 global locations will drive synergies through centralised fabrication and digital platforms. Meanwhile, Blatchford CEO Paul Roberts stated the divestment will allow the UK firm to concentrate its resources on product innovation.

Blatchford is a leading provider of prosthetic and orthotic services in Norway, operating clinics across the country (including Bergen, Oslo, and Tromsø) to provide advanced, custom mobility solutions. It specialises in fitting high-tech prosthetic legs, knees, and ankles, as well as orthotic devices, orthopedic footwear, and specialised insoles.
