European private equity firm Verdane has exited its investment in Scandinavian health technology provider Omilon, selling the business to Nexus AG. 

The acquirer is a German health software enterprise backed by private equity group TA Associates. Omilon specialises in artificial intelligence-powered, speech-recognition, and voice-driven clinical documentation software. Both parties agreed to keep the financial details confidential. 

For Nexus AG, the acquisition accelerates its strategy to embed generative artificial intelligence into everyday clinical practice.  Nexus chief executive officer Ingo Behrendt noted the deal brings proven integration capabilities and a specialised team focused on speech documentation.  The transaction also secures Nexus a stronger foothold in Scandinavia, a region recognised for high digital maturity and early healthcare technology adoption. 

Conversely, Omilon gains immediate access to a widespread European distribution network and a vast hospital customer base.  Omilon chief executive officer Nicolay Moulin stated this scale will make their platform accessible to significantly more providers, fostering the rapid implementation of responsible artificial intelligence. 

The sale concludes a six-year partnership with Verdane. During this tenure, Verdane scaled Omilon’s operations, solidifying its market leadership and improving administrative efficiency across the Nordic public healthcare sector. The company has already established key integrations with Corti, Tandem Health, and the Microsoft health technology ecosystem.

The acquisition highlights a critical acceleration in the commercialisation of generative artificial intelligence within European healthcare, demonstrating that major health software providers are moving beyond standalone tools to actively integrate proven, AI-driven speech documentation directly into everyday clinical workflows.

It also underscores the strategic value of the Scandinavian market as a premium springboard for digital health innovations, given the region’s high digital maturity and early adoption of artificial intelligence.
