Netcompany secures £215M NHS England contract to modernise adult screening
Copenhagen-headquartered IT consultancy Netcompany has secured a major five-year contract with NHS England to modernise the digital infrastructure supporting national adult screening programmes.
This partnership, valued at more than £215m, positions Netcompany as a critical partner in the UK’s transition towards a more preventative healthcare model. For investors and operators in the life sciences and healthcare sectors, the deal underscores the accelerating demand for legacy system modernisation and the integration of data-driven solutions to improve patient outcomes.
The contract tasks Netcompany with the operation and transformation of the digital services that underpin seven national adult screening programmes, including those for bowel, breast, and cervical cancer. These programmes currently send approximately 15 million invitations to citizens each year, and the new digital framework is designed to shorten the time between invitation and result whilst making it easier for citizens to engage with healthcare services.
This move follows a period of significant growth for the firm, which now employs more than 7,800 staff across 12 countries and has recently expanded its UK footprint with a new 300-strong team office in Leeds.
From a market perspective, this contract highlights Netcompany’s competitive edge in managing high-complexity, regulated IT environments where data ownership and sovereignty are paramount. The firm continues to pivot its strategy towards long-term, fixed-price responsibility for end-to-end solutions, moving away from simple resource provision.
As healthcare systems globally grapple with aging infrastructure, Netcompany’s focus on building “AI-ready” platforms suggests a clear path for future growth in large-scale public sector transformations. The group has recently updated its long-term financial targets, aiming for organic revenue growth between 5% and 10% and an adjusted EBITDA margin above 20% by 2029.
