Mediclinic International’s ownership structure looks set to undergo a strategic realignment following an in-principle, non-binding agreement between Remgro Ltd and MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company) to separate core geographic operations as of December 2025.

• Remgro will acquire full ownership of Mediclinic Southern Africa
• MSC’s subsidiary Investment Holding Limited (IHL) will take full ownership of Hirslanden , Mediclinic’s Swiss operations.
• Both parties will retain joint ownership of Mediclinic’s Middle East operations and their shared stake in Spire Healthcare Group plc , maintaining collaboration in high-growth international markets.

The separation aims to enhance operational agility and strategic focus in each party’s home markets. MSC’s deep understanding of Switzerland’s regulatory environment and market dynamics – highlighted by Remgro executives as a key value driver since their 2023 partnership – positions it to better navigate Swiss healthcare challenges.

Meanwhile, Remgro gains full control of Mediclinic Southern Africa, its most profitable segment, enabling targeted investments in volume growth, outpatient expansion, and technology upgrades.

Completion expected in Q4 2026.
