Lord Darzi’s report on the NHS
The new government says it needs to lean on technology to help fix a “broken” NHS, one that, according to Lord Darzi, is in “critical condition, but its vital signs are strong”.
Following the release of Lord Darzi’s report on the NHS, PM Keir Starmer outlined three “big shifts” as the basis for reform over the next ten years.
Hospitals to community care → Reducing the burden on hospitals by ensuring better community and primary care.
Analogue to digital → Move to exploit digital technology, specifically mentioned were diagnostic scanners and AI.
A preventative health approach → Though needed, this would require a radical change not only in the NHS but the mindset of the people it cares for too.
What could all of this mean for private providers, private equity, and investors? Candesic Senior Partner Dr Michelle Tempest will explore all of the increasing prospects for independent providers in light of this new government and this report.
