Lord Darzi’s NHS evaluation
Professor Lord Darzi of Denham has been appointed by the Government to provide a “raw and honest assessment” of the issues currently facing the health service. His findings will feed into the 10-year plan to reform the NHS. Lord Darzi is expected to report his findings in September.
Separately, the BMA just outlined its own areas of concern for public healthcare, and highlighted the recruitment and retention crisis as well as policy decisions which undervalue the medical profession. Without action to appropriately value the unique skills and expertise doctors and nurses, workforce levels are unlikely to reach those needed for quality care.
What in your view are the areas Lord Darzi should focus on, and do you agree with the BMA’s assessment? We would love to hear from you. Email [email protected]
