Ipsen to acquire Kartos Therapeutics for up to $1.75bn
Global biopharmaceutical company Ipsen is to acquire California-based clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company Kartos Therapeutics in a transaction valued at up to $1.75bn.
The deal involves an upfront cash payment of $450m, with a further $1.3bn tied to the achievement of regulatory and commercial milestones.
This transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026 and highlights Ipsen’s continued focus on high-value niches within the European and global healthcare landscape.
The centrepiece of the acquisition is navtemadlin, an investigational oral MDM2 inhibitor currently in Phase III clinical development. The drug is designed to restore the natural tumour-suppressing function of the p53 protein, which is often compromised in patients with myelofibrosis, a rare and serious blood cancer.
