Glide Healthcare acquires Rudischhauser

26 January 2026

Prominent Netherlands-based thematic healthcare investor Gilde Healthcare has significantly bolstered its portfolio in the medical technology sector with the acquisition of Rudischhauser.

This transaction was executed via Gilde’s specialised contract manufacturing vehicle, Surgical Precision Instruments (SPI). Based in Germany, Rudischhauser is a highly regarded contract manufacturer specialising in the production of surgical instruments and implants.

For healthcare operators and investors, this transaction underscores Gilde Healthcare’s commitment to the medtech supply chain and its strategy of building specialised platforms through thematic investing. By integrating Rudischhauser into the SPI group, Gilde is positioning itself to capture a larger share of the surgical manufacturing market, which continues to see demand for high-precision, specialised components.

This acquisition follows a pattern of active portfolio management by Gilde, which recently exited its investment in the diagnostic imaging provider RAD-x to Swiss Life Asset Managers and Vesper.

The addition of Rudischhauser provides SPI with enhanced technical capabilities in the German market, a global hub for medical engineering. Investors should note that Gilde’s broader strategy remains focused on both venture and growth capital, as evidenced by its recent participation in the $37m Series D financing for GT Medical Technologies and its backing of late-stage biopharmaceutical firms like SynOx Therapeutics.

This latest acquisition through SPI demonstrates a clear focus on operational scale and consolidation within the fragmented European medtech manufacturing landscape.
