British multinational health insurance and healthcare company Bupa has unveiled dedicated cancer specialist centres for its insurance members, covering gynaecology and gastroenterology at London’s Cromwell Hospital and the recently acquired New Victoria Hospital.

The move aims to deliver quicker diagnostics and coordinated treatment for two of the insurer’s highest-volume cancer pathways while retaining patients within its own network.

Each centre targets a maximum of 31 days from first contact to treatment for confirmed cancers, compressing typical private-sector timelines. Women with suspected gynaecological cancers will receive nurse-led triage within 24 hours , with biopsy results returned in seven working days.

Cromwell’s new 33,000 ft² Lexham Gardens extension, opened in December 2025, adds an extra operating theatre, a chemotherapy day unit and upgraded imaging suites, creating headroom for the additional cancer workload.

By internalising end-to-end cancer care, Bupa can keep premium-paying members inside its ecosystem, potentially reducing out-of-network claims leakage and strengthening customer retention, while the focused-pathway model established at Cromwell and New Victoria provides a blueprint for further roll-out across Bupa’s growing London footprint, which is set to expand again with the planned acquisition of King Edward VII’s Hospital announced in October 2025.

Competing private hospitals may face higher service-level expectations as Bupa publicly commits to tightly defined diagnostic and treatment turnarounds.
