TPG launches European healthcare real estate platform
Global asset manager TPG Real Estate has officially launched Arcura Medical Properties, a new, purpose-built European healthcare real estate platform focused on medical outpatient buildings and clinical infrastructure.
The launch of the specialised platform follows the completion of an approximately €400 million seed acquisition of a premier portfolio from Vital Infrastructure Property Trust, formerly known as Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT. Comprising 30 properties that span more than 180,000 square metres, the initial portfolio establishes a substantial operating footprint in key European markets.
The acquired assets are strategically located in premier markets across Germany and the Netherlands, including major metropolitan hubs such as Berlin, Hamburg, and the Randstad region. Arcura starts its operations with an established base of more than 400 healthcare tenants, providing critical facilities such as outpatient clinics and medical offices.
To lead the new venture, TPG has appointed Simon Betty as Chief Executive Officer. Betty, who previously managed the European operations for Vital Infrastructure Property Trust, brings over 20 years of real estate investment experience to the role. He is supported by industry veteran Richard Mully, who has been appointed as the independent platform’s chairman.
The establishment of Arcura reflects a broader institutional drive to capitalise on secular growth trends in European healthcare, particularly the accelerating shift towards outpatient medical care. Many institutional investors and operators favour the medical outpatient sector due to its highly durable demand, defensive qualities, and sustainable revenue models.
