Ampersand closes $1.5bn healthcare fund at hard cap
Ampersand Capital Partners, a middle-market private equity firm specialised in growth-oriented healthcare investments, has announced the final closure of its twelfth primary fund, Ampersand 2026 Limited Partnership, at its hard cap of $1.bn.
The oversubscribed vehicle, known as AMP-26, was wrapped up in a single close less than five months after its initial launch. It received substantial backing from a diversified, global cohort of institutional investors, including pension plans, endowments, insurance companies, foundations, family offices, and funds of funds.
For healthcare operators and investors, this capital injection suggests robust private equity appetite for middle-market companies that provide mission-critical tools and services. Ampersand intends to deploy the new capital by continuing its established strategy of securing both majority and minority investments in growth-stage businesses. The firm prioritises organisations generating between $10 million and $200 million in revenue with positive EBITDA.
Founded in 1988, Ampersand manages more than $4 billion in assets and operates from offices in Boston, Amsterdam, and London. The firm has spent more than 35 years partnering with founders and chief executive officers to accelerate commercial growth and build market-leading companies.
