Amethyst and Stingray form Europe’s Largest oncology platform

24 November 2025

Pan-European mid-market investment firm Fremman Capital has acquired Stingray Healthcare from Jacobs Capital to merge it with Amethyst Healthcare, creating Europe’s largest independent cancer care platform .

The transaction unites two complementary oncology networks with a shared mission to expand access to high-quality, patient-centred radiotherapy services across Western and Central Europe.

The merger leverages Amethyst’s established footprint in France, Poland, Romania, the UK, Italy, Portugal, and Austria – and Stingray’s strong presence in France and Germany, Europe’s two largest radiotherapy markets.

It establishes the group as the largest independent provider in European cancer care, combining Amethyst’s 21 centers (including 34 linear accelerators and two Gamma Knife radiosurgery centres) with Stingray’s 10 radiotherapy and Gamma Knife facilities.

Fremman’s backing underscores confidence in consolidating fragmented European oncology markets, targeting expanded access to next-generation non-surgical cancer treatments. Edward Chandler, Fremman’s founding partner, emphasised the platform’s potential to become the “partner of choice for cancer care professionals” through enhanced reach and quality.

Ralph Hefti, Stingray’s founding CEO and now leader of the combined group, highlighted the merger’s role in unifying clinicians and cutting-edge technology to improve patient outcomes.

For investors, this consolidation signals a robust foundation for future M&A and organic growth in a high-demand market. The platform’s pan-European scale positions it to lead innovation in radiotherapy accessibility, a priority for stakeholders navigating rising cancer incidence rates and evolving treatment standards.
