Jefferies 2024
The first day of the Jefferies Healthcare Conference came to a close with a conversation between Sir Jon Symonds, Chair of GSK, and Health Secretary The Rt. Hon. Wes Streeting MP.
The packed conference room at The Waldorf Hilton, London heard Streeting speak on his aspirations for the UK to become a powerhouse of drug development and research.
He also spoke on the need for data to be made more free-flowing, ethically and securely shared between NHS organisations and pharmaceutical companies to help develop drugs.
Jefferies continued with interesting and discussion-rich panels, including great panels on Channelling Institutional Capital into Life Sciences (pictured), featuring Dame Kate Bingham, Managing Partner at SV Health Investors, Allan Marchington, Managing Director, Head of Life Sciences at Intermediate Capital Group (ICG), Louis Taylor, CEO of the British Business Bank, and Lord Patrick Vallance, Minister of State for Science, Research, and Innovation.
Jefferies is part of a much larger annual London Life Sciences Week (LLSW), which attracts a global audience from across the health and life sciences sectors. Other conferences and events come from BMJ—Future Health and The King’s Fund—Building partnerships between the health and care and life sciences sectors.
Candesic Managing Partner Dr Leonid Shapiro was at Jefferies alongside Senior Partners Marc Kitten and Dr Michelle Tempest. As usual, it was such a valuable event that has grown year on year. We look forward to next year!
