Dr Michelle Tempest and Dr Joe Taylor examine how new models of care are emerging that are enabling care to be shifted closer to the individual.
Longevity gains and staff shortages call for an urgent democratisation of healthcare. Upskilling down the workforce is one aspect of the pressure. Starting with advisory roles, appointment bookings and primary care, digital applications are driving this consumer revolution, further fueled by the appetite for personalised immediate care, as seen in the home testing and monitoring market. There is naturally a strong investor appetite but it remains fragmented with potential for further integration both vertically and horizontally, hopefully to the benefit of the consumer.
